LOCAL SERVICE CENTERS RECEIVE ELECTRIC FANS FROM HEC EMPLOYEES

Employees from the Houston Emergency Center (HEC) have donated electric fans to several neighboring community service centers to battle extreme heat conditions.

The HEC Awards Committee, whose primary objective is to improve employee morale and create a positive work environment, oversaw the project to insure another successful donation campaign.

“Many donors within our center are willing to fund a worthwhile project for those who are in need of help,” stated Cynthia Wall, Administrative Supervisor and Chairperson for the HEC Awards Committee.

Individual employee contributions accounted for the purchase of 132 electronic fans.

“On a daily basis, our employees go beyond their daily emergency duties and it is not a surprise that they will extend a helping hand to those less fortunate in our community,” commented HEC director, David Cutler.  “This is our third consecutive year for this effort and we hope to continue the tradition for years to come.”

During times of extreme heat, electric fans will not completely keep a household cool.  It is recommended that individuals should attempt to visit areas that have better cooling conditions such as a multi-center or a mall.

The following service centers were the recipients of the donated fans:

  • Acres Homes Multi-Service Center
  • Magnolia Senior Center NCI
  • Vietnamese Senior Citizen Association
