What:  Building Fire of a commercial occupancy in West Houston.
When:  January 6, 2017 at 12:51 a.m.
Where:  2698 S. Highway 6, Houston TX 77082
Injuries:  One Firefighter and one fire victim were transported to nearby hospital.
Damage:  Moderate damage to an equipment room in the structure.
Cause:  Houston Arson Bureau is investigating for cause and origin.
Details:

The Houston Fire Department responded to a building fire in West Houston. On arrival, fire crews found visible smoke and flames coming from an equipment room of that structure. During the fire attack, one victim was discovered to have been trapped in the structure. Firefighters had to breach a brick wall to remove the victim. During the rescue one firefighter sustained a significant injury to one eye.  Details of the incident, resulting in the injury, are under investigation by the Houston Police Department. Both the victim and the firefighter were transported to nearby  hospital. The firefighter is currently in stable condition, while the fire victim is being treated for smoke inhalation. The Houston Fire Department is not releasing the firefighter's name at this time.
