Metropolitan Multi-Service Center to Host Its First U.S. Paralympics Committee
and Texas Regional Sports U.S. Paralympics Talent I.D. Day
The Houston Parks and Recreation Department, the U.S. Paralympics Committee, and Texas Regional Sports will hold a first ever U.S. Paralympics Talent I.D. Day, Sunday, November 10, 2013, from 9:15 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. at the Metropolitan Multi-Service Center, 1475 W. Gray, 77019.
The event is an opportunity for people with disabilities to try sporting activities and identify their skills. Participants who show top-level abilities or potential may be given the opportunity to train with the United States Olympic Committee for future U.S. Paralympic team competitions.

|Why:||To raise interest and awareness in paralympic sports and identify potential top-level athletes|
H.P.A.R.D. and U.S. Paralympics staff will coach people with physical and/or visual impairment in sports activities and help them improve their physical skills. Participants will have the opportunity to take part in cycling, swimming, track and field, sitting volleyball, and wheelchair basketball.
Local sports programming information will be available, and lunch will be served. Participants can register at the event or register early by going to www.gatewaytogold.org, and participants under the age of 18 must have a parent’s signature to take part.
