Building Implosion (Downtown Macy’s) with Street Closures
Sunday, September 22, 2013, starting at 6 a.m.
|Where:||Old Macy’s Building at 1201 Louisiana|
Demolition work has been ongoing at this site for several months. 24-hour security will be on site once the explosive material is delivered. HFD has also been advised that radio signals in and around the immediate area will not produce a hazard.
The Demolition company has developed a perimeter protection plan for the morning of this event and will establish an perimeter around the Macy’s building. Uniformed Police Officers will be on hand to provide support. HFD will have one inspector and one unit on stand-by at the site.
Due to the location of the implosion site there will be no “safe viewing site lines” to observe the implosion.
Expected street closures are from Fannin to Milam and from Polk to McKinney starting at 6 a.m. and are expected to reopen by 11:45 a.m. METRO will also be temporarily suspending all lightrail service, and detour select bus routes in the area.
