Public’s Help Sought in Identifying Metal Theft Suspect

Houston police are asking for the public’s help in identifying a suspect who has stolen metal from a number of air conditioning units at an apartment complex at 5714 West Gulf Bank during the past few months.

The suspect is described only as a black male, 25-30 years old, between 5’11” and 6’1” and weighing about 200 pounds.

A surveillance photo of the suspect is attached to this news release.

HPD Metal Theft Unit Officer O. Gamez reported:

The suspect can be seen on surveillance video in one of the incidents on January 6.  It is believed the suspect dismantles air conditioner units and then hides the coils in a nearby vacant apartment.  He then returns at a later time and removes the parts from the complex.

Anyone with information on the identity of this suspect is urged to contact the HPD Metal Theft Unit at 281-405-6580.
