World AIDS Day to feature music, poem reading, candlelight ceremony

Who:

Public health professionals, community organizations dedicated to HIV prevention, AIDS activists, Houston’s first lady Kathy Hubbard, Rep. Garnet Coleman, Houston Department of Health and Human Services Director Stephen Williams, Gay Men’s Chorus of Houston and Bayou City Women’s Chorus and the public

 

What:

The Houston Department of Health and Human Services, numerous community organizations and people dedicated to HIV prevention will observe World AIDS Day with a program featuring a candlelight ceremony, songs by the local choruses, a poem reading and brief remarks by people living with HIV or AIDS. The event allows participants to remember friends or loved ones who have died of AIDS. World AIDS Day is organized annually to raise awareness of the impact that AIDS has in society, help prevent the spread of HIV and focus attention on the global epidemic.

 

When:

Thursday, Dec. 1, 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
